4 out of 5 stars Clove is the predominant scent, not lavender- but this works   August 9, 2010

When I first purchased this a couple of years ago, I was disappointed in how much clove was in it- there was no lavender smell that was discernable to me. The clove smell was STRONG, too. For that, I give this three stars, because the marketing is misleading & I really think that a lavender fragrance is better for relaxation. However, I give this five stars for function & durability. I own three of them- one's at work & two are @ home (I keep one in the freezer & one on top of the microwave). They've been worth every penny.

I have fibromyalgia, which causes immense inflammation in my back, hips and shoulders. I sleep w/ the one I keep in the freezer during the day & an Ace cold pack so that my body can cool down & so I can rest more comfortably at night. On another note, my mother has diabetic neuropathy in her feet & they get very cold in the winter due to her poor circulation. This has been so good for her when it's heated up & is the only thing that helps her sometimes.

It takes two-three minutes in the microwave to warm up from room temperature & the heat from this is fabulous in my office, whenever they've turned on the A/C too high or the indoor heat's on too low. Sometimes it's the only way I can warm up cold hands or feet. Co-workers beg for it when they're cold, too. It feels wonderful wrapped around the lower back or resting on the shoulders and neck, where office workers tend to hold all of their stress. The cover comes off lickety-split & washes up fine, but it doesn't seem to show any dirt- it's all very durable. The filling has stayed in completely on both of mine, meaning the stitching was done well & my wraps are used virtually every day. I would recommend these to anyone- just be aware that the fragrance is clove & not lavender, period.

Tips for using it hot: Do not overheat it, as the herbs/spices do burn & it will smell just like burnt popcorn. Turn the wrap over (the inner part is in three stitched sections) every minute or so that it's in the microwave. If taking it from the freezer to the microwave (you may preferentially store it cold but end up needing it warm), it'll take four to five minutes to heat up. Still turn it every minute or so to prevent burning any one section. I heat it up on a paper towel, because it is "moist heat" & will both leave behind moisture & also absorb anything on the microwave bottom. You'll know when it's warm enough for your liking. The heat lasts up to an hour.

It comes in a nice carrying case w/ a handle, good for toting wherever you need it. Also good for yoga class if you need extra heat for sore muscles &/or to get into tougher poses.

5 out of 5 stars Perfect fit, heavenly scent   May 18, 2010

My other DreamTime body wrap finally wore out from use so I bought this new one. It's a better design, very versatile in terms of how it fits around your shoulders and neck. The scent is subtle, lovely and comforting and the wrap holds the heat a long time and doesn't develop "hot spots". The cover is very soft and a pretty color. Having used many heatable wraps of this type, this is the best I've ever owned. It is worth the price and another quality product from an excellent company.

5 out of 5 stars Cloves, Cinnamon, and Eucylptus - Great Relaxing Combination   February 14, 2010

Valentine's Day 2004, Origins store, bought my wife this wonderful thing called a Ginger Hug. I have been told this is the BEST Valentine's Day present I have ever bought my wife. Fast forward six years and the original is very well worn, like a child's favorite stuffed animal; and I'm scratching my head to buy a replacement. Valentine's Day 2010, discovered that the manufacturer of that original Ginger Hug was none other than DreamTime. I was so happy, and imagine that, Amazon carries these wonderful pillows.

Not to leave anything to chance, I purchased every single color, red, purple, green, and bamboo. Today was a fabulous day - the new version is just as fabulous and I've finally bought a second fantastic Valentine's Day present.

These are really sweet pillows / body wraps. The exterior is a very soft velvet material. It feels fantastic against your skin. The exterior is like a pillow case and the actual material is encased in a white cotton chambered body. The material is rice, cloves, cinnamon, and eucylptus. So it's very easy to figure out if you will like the odor. If love these three smells, you will adore this wrap.

These are soft and cuddly. The chambers inside the pillow prevent the rice from settling at one end. Since the case is removable, it is very easy to wash the exterior. The dry rice microwaves rather well to warm up the whole wrap. The instructions warn to warm the wrap thirty seconds at a time in the microwave. Obviously if you soak this with water, the rice will swell and ruin the wrap. Just be careful to not soak the wrap.

Color is very subjective. I do find every of these colors pleasant. The red is a deep royal red. The others are all muted and very subtle.

Well, another great present. These are just a great way to relax.

3 out of 5 stars Heat's well, smells bad....   December 21, 2009

Like my title says, it heats well, but I really can't get over the smell. I've had this type of thing before and loved it. But I can't stand the strong smell of cloves in this one. So, if you like the smell of cloves, go for it, cause there is technically nothing wrong with the product. It just wasn't for me.....
